World Darts Championship Semi-Finals Tips
7:45pm – Rob Cross vs Luke Littler: Cross To Win @ 6/5
The penultimate day of the 2024 World Darts Championship sees Rob Cross and teenage sensation Luke Littler lock horns for a spot in Wednesday’s final at Alexandra Palace, where an incredible £500,000 is up for grabs.
Littler has taken not only the sport but the country by storm in just his second ever appearance at a PDC major, defying pre-tournament odds of 66/1 to earn 4/6 favouritism against the 6/5 Cross.
On his way to the semi-final, ‘The Nuke’ has sent home a number of big names such as reigning UK Open champion Andrew Gilding and two legends of the sport in Raymond van Barneveld and Brendan Dolan.
He’s playing phenomenal darts on the stage but at the prices, preference lies with 2018 World Champion Rob Cross who produced an unbelievable comeback from 4-0 down to beat Chris Dobey 5-4 in the quarter-finals.
Cross is bidding to stop Littler winning the tournament on debut as he did himself six years ago. At just 16 years of age, whilst the occasion and pressure hasn’t seemed to leave a mark on Littler yet, this is where we could see the first cracks begin to appear.
It’ll undoubtedly be a close match-up but Cross holds the advantage in our eyes as he holds the throw to begin and should prove tough to break considering his impressive tournament form to date.
9:30pm – Scott Williams vs Luke Humphries: Williams +3.5 Handicap @ 8/11
Luke Humphries is the current tournament favourite, but it’s fair to say he probably hasn’t been at his best throughout. He was on the verge of elimination at the hands of Ricardo Pietreczko in the third round and got away with murder in the last 16 vs Joe Cullen.
The same can’t be said for Scott Williams, who is playing the best darts of his career to date and continues to defy expectations on the stage in North London. His swagger, unwavering confidence and showman personality has seen him transform into almost a cult hero.
Williams has been the underdog in most of his triumphant wins this year, including a 3-0 whitewash of Danny Noppert in the second round, seeing off Martin Schindler 4-3 afterwards before sending Damon Heta and three-time World Champion Michael van Gerwen home.
Whilst we still think Humphries will do enough to get himself over the line and into the final, this should be a closer match than the bookies are anticipating and Williams +3.5 is our play for the second semi-final of the night.
