Patrice Evra has never hidden his thoughts on the Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi debate. The former Man United full back has explained why he prefers Ronaldo.
Evra, who played with Ronaldo at Man United, has always been vocal about his thoughts on the GOAT debate in football. He’s resparked the debate of Ronaldo vs Messi with his latest comments.
Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel FIVE, Evra gave his reasons for choosing Ronaldo over Messi.
“If Messi had the same work ethic as Cristiano Ronaldo, he would probably have like 15 Ballon d’Ors today. I’m just in love with people working hard so that’s why I pick Ronaldo over Messi
“I want to explain why I say Ronaldo every time. It’s not because he’s our brother it’s because I’m in love with work ethic. I feel like Messi, God just gave him a talent and Cristiano had to work for it. He had the talent but he had to work for it.”

Evra’s Comments Resparking The Ronaldo vs Messi Debate
The Ronaldo vs Messi debate is something that has rumbled on since the two players burst onto the scene over 15 years ago.
There’s no doubt the two will go down as two of the greatest players to grace the field. But the debate who’s better between the two could be argued for days.
Messi has been gifted with natural ability. Ronaldo has worked hard to get to where he is now. Which raises the debate of nature or nurture debate, which one makes the better footballer?
Messi’s recent World Cup success to many is the final nail in the coffin. By helping, or as some would say carrying, his nation to World Cup success makes Messi the better of the two.
