Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a surpirse move for Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard, despite recent talks of a renewed contract at the Emirates.

The Ligue 1 giants clinched the title once again after a 1-1 draw with Strasbourg on Sunday, putting a positive end on what has been a difficult season for Christophe Galtier’s side.

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League round of 16, following a poor display against Bayern Munich and the club’s main ambition of European glory will have to wait another year.

More misery was piled on the club as star man, Lionel Messi, was suspended following an unauthorised absence from training.

The Argentinian is set to leave the club this summer, despite joining the club only two years ago and a return to Barcelona is reportedly the 37-year-old’s preferred option.

However, the Parisian side are preparing for a host of exits and are set to add a plethora of new signings in the coming weeks. One player that is reportedly on the French champions’ radar is Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard.

The 25-year-old has been superb for the Gunners this season, contributing to 23 goals in 37 Premier League appearances.

For large parts of the season, the former Real Madrid player was in contention to win the PFA Player Of The Year award. However, Arsenal’s poor end to the season ended and Manchester City’s 12 game unbeaten streak has made Erling Haaland the favourite.

Any move for the Norway international will face difficulty in negotiations, as Odegaard is expected to sign a renewed contract that would keep him in the Premier League for another year.

The Gunners are also preparing for Granit Xhaka’s departure, as the Switzerland international is on the cusp of joining Bayer Leverkusen.

Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo have been linked with a move to the Emirates, with the intention of filling the hole that Xhaka’s exit would leave.
