With snow forecast over the next few days, Cheltenham officials have reassured racegoers that the festival will go ahead with “lovely jumping ground” expected throughout the week.
Although Cheltenham have been lucky enough to avoid the recent snowfall in the UK this week, the course is expected to be hit by snow in the coming days if the forecasts are correct.
On Wednesday afternoon, clerk of the course Jon Pullin provided a positive update on the condition of the course which is set to excite racegoers even more going into the festival.
“We avoided any snowfall overnight and we have had a combination of drizzle, light rain and sleet throughout the day today, but not amounting to anything of much volume,” said Pullin.
Cheltenham "Snowing" 😅
It is not currently settling but it is due to snow for the majority of the day with a high of 2°C.
Any snow that settles should clear tomorrow due to forecast rain & higher temperatures (9°)

“There is still an unsettled forecast going forward. It is expected to be much the same, a combination of rain and sleet.
“A couple of days could be more significant in volume, but we’re OK. Both Thursday and Monday could be five millimetres to 10mm. If we get anything between the mid-range, that would see lovely jumping ground to start the week with.”
As the racing gets started on Tuesday afternoon with the Supreme Novices Hurdle, many will be more focused on the well-being of the popular Facile Vega, however it’s important to remember the going when wagering on any race at Cheltenham.
