Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United (2-0) Report: Taiwo Awoniyi Back Amongst The Goals For Forest

Nottingham Forest created a bit of breathing room from themselves and the bottom of the Premier League table with a valuable three points against West Ham at the City Ground.

Goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi sealed an impressive win for the Reds at home, marking their first league victory since upsetting Manchester United on December 30.

West Ham are being repeatedly kicked whilst they’re down and it could spell danger for David Moyes’ position as manager following eight consecutive outings without a win.

The Hammers are in a good position in the league table in ninth with 36 points but after looking like they could potentially challenge for the European spots, a mid-table finish appears a more realistic goal.

In 14 league appearances this season, Awoniyi has bagged six goals and two assists in ten starts. When he’s on the pitch, Forest have looked a dangerous side at times but his availability has been a bit of an issue.

If the Nigerian frontman can stay fit until the end of the season, the Reds should find it no challenge to stay in the top-flight. Even without him, it’s likely they’d avoid relegation due to the standard at the bottom right now.

West Ham now have a dilemma on their hands regarding Moyes – the man who delivered Europa Conference League glory last season.

What Next For Nottingham Forest & West Ham?

Forest will look ahead to a trip to the West Midlands to face Aston Villa before a fifth round FA Cup tie against Manchester United coming up towards the end of February.

As for the Hammers, the Londoners could be offered a bit of respite with fixtures against Brentford, Everton and Burnley to follow – but as we know in this league, nothing is a given.
