Nottingham Forest have reportedly rejected Brentford’s £35m bid for Brennan Johnson, as the Welshman’s future continues to be questioned.
The Welshman has made 105 appearances for the Trees, scoring 29 and assisting 12 in the process. Johnson was also pivotal in the club’s return to the Premier League – where they found some success in their opening campaign.
Steve Cooper’s side managed to avoid relegation with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the latter stages of the season and are set for a tough 2023-24 campaign.
However, Forest have been very active during the summer transfer window, not as active as last season where they made over 20 new additions, as the Trees have signed Anthony Elanga from Manchester United.
Johnson has three-years remaining on his current deal, meaning after rejecting a £35m bid from Brentford, it could take over £45m to entice the club into selling their star man.

The Bees have been very proactive in the summer window, signing Nathan Collins from Wolves and Mark Flekken from SC Freiburg.
German winger, Kevin Schade, who was on loan at the club last season has seen his deal been made permanent this summer and joined for around £20m.
Supporters will still be concerned for the 2023-23 season, as Ivan Toney will be out until January due to a host of gambling violations.
The England international’s absence has made an additional striking purchase a necessity this summer, meaning Brentford are likely to attempt a second bid for the Nottingham Forest star.
An exact fee has yet to be put on Johnson’s name this window, however, the Bees will need to act swiftly as they face stiff competition from Aston Villa – who are able to offer Europa Conference League football this season.
