Chelsea summer signing Nicolas Jackson is to serve a one-match ban after picking us his fifth yellow card of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Remarkably, all of Jackson’s yellow cards have been for dissent. Luckily, the ban will only keep him out of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup tie against Brighton. With the Blues struggling for striker options, they wouldn’t want to go into a Premier League game striker-less.
One Chelsea fan took to social media to voice their frustration over Jackson: ‘Jackson’s banned for Brighton – not that will make a difference as we haven’t scored in our last three games’.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino had a meeting with Jackson and Enzo Fernandez in the week regarding discipline. Not that Jackson was paying attention.

“Today we were talking about that because we were in a meeting with him [Jackson] and also Enzo,” Pochettino said. “Come on, a striker with four yellow cards. To protest and to talk to the referee, if you need to get yellow cards, different action but not because of that.
“It’s so easy and so cheap. I think it’s going to put the team in a very difficult situation and he understood. We were talking about [Armando] Broja, but Jackson is 21 also and he’s young, he needs to learn and improve and settle to become a fantastic player. He needs time.”
Chelsea sit 14th in the Premier League table on five points. Their next league game is away to Fulham (11th).
