Chelsea could be set for another raid on Brighton with Roberto De Zerbi being eyed as a potential successor to Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino’s role at Stamford Bridge has come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks and has been enhanced following Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat in extra time by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

The Blues are a disappointing 11th in the Premier League table despite a ridiculous level of transfer activity since Todd Boehly’s arrival in London, which could lead the American to assess his options.

  • Italian manager 5/1 tipped to switch seaside for London city life
  • If Brighton refuse an approach, Sporting’s Ruben Amorim is eyed

Next Chelsea FC Manager Odds: De Zerbi Eyed As Brighton Love Affair Continues

Pochettino has failed to leave a positive mark during his first season in charge of the club, which could lead Chelsea to once again approach Brighton in their search for a new leader.

In 2021, the Blues replaced Thomas Tuchel with then-Brighton boss Graham Potter – who lasted just over six months in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have been one of Brighton’s best customers in recent years, buying Moses Caicedo (€116m), Robert Sanchez (€28.7m) and Marc Cucurella (€65.3m) from the south coast.

The pair of clubs are familiar with each others business, so entering negotiations shouldn’t be too difficult. De Zerbi’s contract expires in June 2026 so if Chelsea want him now they’d have to pay a hefty fee.
