Bookmakers have weighed up whether the Scottish champions will look to replace Brendan Rodgers in the near future, with David Moyes touted as the likeliest option according to next Celtic manager odds.

Brendan Rodgers looked on helplessly as his side crumbled in the final 10 minutes to set an unwanted record for British teams in Europe. Ciro Immobile’s quick-fire double left Celtic ruing earlier chances against Lazio, with Kyogo Furuhashi and Yang Hyun-jun spurning promising passages.

Rodgers admitted a “glaring” lack of quality following the game, as side side are left to stew on setting a new record for consecutive winless games in Europe by a British side (15).

Since returning to the club for a second stint, Rodgers has picked up where he left with an impeccable record domestically – the Hoops are unbeaten across 13 games in the SPL, dropping just six points in the process.

However, shortcomings in Europe and a swift exit in the League Cup against Kilmarnock have left a disgruntled fanbase questioning the direction of the club.

With that in mind, SportsLens price-setters have handed next Celtic managers odds to a long list of candidates, although West Ham’s David Moyes is the favourite to return to his native Scotland.

Next Celtic Manager Odds: David Moyes Favoured to Return in Full Circle Moment

As the bookmakers suggest, a return the club where it all began for David Moyes would make for a romantic storyline, having donned the white and green for three years at the start of his playing career.

Having navigated West Ham to a fairytale Europa Conference League title last season – their first piece of silverware in 43 years – he would certainly make for an attractive option for Celtic, given their failings on the continent in recent years.

Two decades have passed since the Hoops found themselves in a European final, although it may feel fresher for Celtic fans old enough to remember 2003’s UEFA Cup final in Seville. Nevertheless, their recent lapses in Europe – 15 consecutive games without a win to be precise – may need remedying by a manager with proven European pedigree, such as Moyes.

Reports last summer even went as far as suggesting he was one of the chief candidates among a list of names, although the board were keen to bring in a manager that promises a style of football slightly easier on the eye.

With Moyes’ contract up at the end of 2023/24 in what will be his fourth year in a second stint at West Ham, he may look for a fresh challenge.

Elsewhere, three-time Norwegian title winner Kjetil Knudsen continues to be linked with both Rangers and Celtic, while Vincent Kompany – who is under genuine pressure to lift Burnley from the Premier League mire – completes the top three candidates in the next Celtic manager odds.
