Newly-Appointed Leeds Boss Sam Allardyce Claims Not Even Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp Are ‘Ahead’ of Him

Sam Allardyce, who will attempt to steer Leeds away from relegation in his latest Premier League appointment, has claimed ‘no one is ahead’ of him when it comes to football management.

Sam Allardyce’s Premier League record speaks for itself – his arrival at Leeds signals the start of his ninth top-flight role, and only once has he been relegated.

Although facing the drop with West Brom in his most recent job put an end to his iron-clad ‘survival specialist’ record, there is no doubting his ability to galvanise a group of players in the most desperate of situations.

Not only has he made a habit of Premier League survival, but his immense success story in his most iconic role while at the helm in Bolton, shows he is much more than an end-of-season ‘roll of the dice’.

He guided the Trotters out of the second tier, established them as a fully-fledged Premier League side before leading them to UEFA Cup qualification, all in the space of five years.

And so, he returns to management in what could be the most competitive relegation scrap of his 18-season career. Leeds are a team desperately short on confidence, and lacking any real defensive discipline.

Fear not, however, for Sam Allardyce has made a sensational claim upon arriving in Yorkshire, telling the press that there are few better equipped than him in football management.

Speaking in his first press conference, he said: “I might be 68 and look old and antiquated but there’s nobody ahead of me in football terms. Not Pep, not Klopp, not Arteta.

“It’s all there with me. They do what they do and I do what I do.

“In terms of knowledge, I am not saying I’m better than them but I’m certainly as good as they are.”

We can’t say we whole-heartedly agree with ‘Big Sam,’ but we enjoy his optimistic take on how he is viewed within the context of English football.
