Newcastle vs AC Milan Preview & Prediction
Both sides need a win and results to go their way to have any chance of progressing into the knockout stages of the Champions League , so there’s a lot on the line in Group F.
Newcastle and AC Milan are on five points in the group, with the former currently having the edge over their opponents on goal difference.
Eddie Howe’s side head into the fixture on the back of two miserable losses in the Premier League against Tottenham and Everton (both 3-0). The Magpies’ growing injury list and hectic schedule seems to have caught up to them, and their confidence appears to have been knocked.
Newcastle were also very unfortunate not to win in Paris a couple of weeks ago when a controversial late Kylian Mbappe penalty robbed them of all three points.
As for Milan, they’ve had an inconsistent few weeks and lost 3-2 on the road against Atalanta at the weekend, also losing last time out in Europe in a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
If the sides repeat their 0-0 draw from Matchday 1, then they will both remain third and fourth in the group respectively, with Newcastle dropping down into the Europa League. A draw would also mean that Milan’s European campaign will be over for the season.
We should be in for a thrilling encounter between two sides fighting to stay in the competition and we are anticipating a close affair but think the hosts will edge it.

With so much to play for either side we should be in for a closely contested battle but we can see Newcastle picking up all three points with both teams to score. This would give Howe’s side the best chance of qualification to the knockouts, relying on PSG to lose against Dortmund.
Milan will not go out without a fight and these two could not be separated when drawing 0-0 earlier on in the season but the St James’ Faithful can help their side to get over the line.
Newcastle are the sort to bounce back and we are expecting them to do so after a couple of poor results.

Callum Wilson has been amongst the goals once again this season for the Magpies and has seven to his name. He has suffered with injuries here and there so his record is still strong through 15 games.
He is a man that Newcastle can rely on when they most need him so we think there will be a big shift from the England international on Wednesday night.
Whilst he hasn’t scored too many in the Champions League, Wilson should be up for the task in such a crucial clash.
