Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella, as the Blues prepare for a host of departures this summer.
The Magpies were tipped to achieve great things following their Saudi Arabian takeover, but supporters would not have expected Champions League football to return to St James’ Park in the first season.
Eddie Howe surprised Premier League spectators as his side climbed up the table and a fourth place finish will see European football return to Tyneside for the first time in over two decades.
Champions League qualification was not the only achievement for the club this season, as they reached the Carabao Cup final – losing 2-0 to Manhchester United.
Key signings have been key for the Toon since Howe’s appointment, with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Daniel Burn playing a huge part in the club’s success.
One player that is reportedly set to join these key signings next season, is out-of-favour Chelsea star, Marc Cucurella, after the Spaniard failed to impress in his opening season at Stamford Bridge.

Following Cucurella’s £60m move from Brighton, Chelsea supporters had huge expectations for their exciting, new full-back. However, the 24-year-old failed to meet these lofty standards and academy graduate, Lewis Hall, ended the season as the starting left-back.
The Spanish international had been a regular starter under Graham Potter – as the pair had previously worked together at Brighton.
Making 24 appearances in the Premier League, his time in the capital has not gone according to plan and a recent injury kept the former Brighton defender out of the last seven league fixtures.
Despite this, Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing the ‘La Masia’ graduate in a move that would allow Dan Burn to play in a more central position.
However, a deal to land Cucurella’s signature may face a few complications, as the 24-year-old signed for the Blues last summer and still has five-years remaining on his contract.
