Newcastle United have been handed odds of 8/13 to finish in the top four this season and secure Champions League football after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.

The Geordies missed the chance to leapfrog Manchester United into third, drawing 1-1 with West Ham at St. James’ Park in the late kick-off.

Newcastle had the ball in the back of the net after 40 seconds through Joe Willock until the goal was chalked off by VAR, but an official lead came just over a minute later when Callum Wilson latched onto Sean Longstaff’s through ball and fired home.

30 minutes later, Lucas Paqueta equalled the scoring with his second Hammers goal since arriving from Lyon last summer and David Moyes’ side were able to hold on and earn a point.

According to Premier League betting sites, the Magpies are odds-on to finish in the top four.

Can Newcastle United return to Europe after a 10 year absence?

The last time Newcastle United played in Europe was on April 11, 2013 when Alan Pardew’s side hosted Portuguese outfit Benfica in a Europa League semi-final.

As it stands, Eddie Howe’s side are set to return to the European stage a decade later but in the Champions League instead (last appearance 2002/03).

Newcastle are now unbeaten in 16 Premier League games, with their last defeat coming to Liverpool in August when Fabio Carvalho’s 98th minute winner stunned the Magpies.

Sitting two points behind Manchester United in third and four points ahead of Spurs in fifth, Newcastle are sitting comfortably in the league table but face a difficult run ahead.

After a trip to Bournemouth on February 11, Newcastle will then face Liverpool at home, Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final and Manchester City away.
