Newcastle United Backed Into 7/2 To Sign Manchester City Midfielder Kalvin Phillips In January

Champions League side Newcastle are favourites to sign Kalvin Phillips should he leave Manchester City in January, that’s according to Sportslens.

Magpies Favourites To Sign Kalvin Phillips

The former Leeds United midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Etihad and Newcastle have been mentioned by many as potential suitors as they look to juggle multiple competitions.

Everton have also been linked with a move as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of what looks like another tough Premier League campaign. However, Phillips is still 5/4 to remain at City for the season.

Eddie Howe’s side are yet to taste defeat since their 3-1 loss to Brighton at the start of September and are looking back to their very best after hammering Crystal Palace 4-0 at the weekend.

Phillips would likely only improve the side, and they may be in need of a new midfielder in January considering Sandro Tonali may miss months of action after his recent off-field situation.

Having played only 70 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, the 27-year-old will likely be frustrated with his playing time and a move to the North East could be exactly what his career needs.

He did feature for England in the recent international break, but will hope that his lack of game time does not hinder his chances of playing in the Euros next summer in Germany.

Neil Roarty, Betting Expert and Spokesperson at Sportslens, said: “Kalvin Phillips is guaranteed trophies at Manchester City but he isn’t guaranteed regular playing time.

“That’s something that will be grating on the England midfielder and with Euro 2024 taking place next season a move to Newcastle could prove the perfect opportunity for him to shine.”
