The England international has come through the ranks at Southampton, making his Premier League debut in the 2012-2013 season. Since then he has made 334 appearances in the top division and has recently donned the Captain’s armband.

Ward-Prowse has become a household name in the UK, with his performances earning a handful of call-ups to the England squad. He is renowned for his ability from a set-piece and has scored 17 free-kicks in the Premier League, meaning he is close to matching the record set by English legend, David Beckham (18).

However, this season has been record-breaking for all the wrong reasons and the Saints sit bottom of the table. The club sacked Nathan Jones after just four months and his replacement, Ruben Selles, has failed to turn things around so far.

Winning just six games all season, the side that have produced the likes of Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw could be relegated to the Championship. It would be the first time since 2011 that the Saints have not played in the Premier League.

Should they go down then a lot of their star players may be on their way out, in hopes of a move to a top division club. The Saints captain has drawn attention from the likes of Newcastle and Spurs, with both sides battling it out for Champions League football.

The Magpies are currently third and are on track to finish in the European places for the first time in over a decade. Contrastingly, Spurs are in a difficult stage after the departure of Antonio Conte and could be six points off fourth if Manchester United win their games in hand.

It’s unsure whether the Saints skipper prefers a move to London or further north in Tyneside, but the Brit has been tipped to choose the Magpies, according to UK betting sites.
