Kylian Mbappe suffered an ankle injury during PSG’s win against Marseille on Sunday. He was forced off and is now a doubt for their Champions League clash with Newcastle in two weeks.
Mbappe has scored seven goals in just four Ligue 1 appearances this season, so boss Luis Enrique will be concerned as the fixtures mount up. PSG occupy 3rd in Ligue 1, while Newcastle sit in 8th position following their 8-0 demolition of Sheffield United.
Mbappe hobbled off down the tunnel in the 32nd minute against Marseille. However, PSG fans will have been buoyed by his replacement Goncalo Ramos who scored twice to ensure a 4-0 victory.
There is no official length of time that Mbappe will face on the side lines as of yet but Enrique is playing down fears.
He said: “It’s not a serious injury, but there was some pain. I believe it was wise for him to come off and not risk further harm. Thankfully, he’s okay.”
PSG beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the opening game in the Champions League. Mbappe was on the scoresheet in that game. Newcastle drew 0-0 with AC Milan in their first Champions League fixture.
