Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab have agreed a deal for Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron.
Almiron to Al-Shabab
Almiron could be on his way to Al-Shabab as a deal has been agreed with both clubs. Almiron is open to the move as his recent form as he’s not been in great form this season.
Al=Shabab are looking for a star player who could bring revenue towards the club. Almiron is a likely prospect for them. It’s understood that they’ve also made contact with Jose Mourinho. They hope to bring him in after the Roma sacking but Mourinho will be a manger on many club’s radar as he’s a proven serial winner despite recent jobs going wayward.
Almiron’s best season came in 2022/23. He had 13 G/A in 34 appearances. He’s a player that has often struggled for form with goals coming every now and again. In the five years he’s been at the club, Almiron has scored 26 goals.
The winger will hope to find his best form in the Saudi Pro League.
Newcastle’s FFP concerns
The fee for Almiron is yet to be decided but the 29-year-old could help ease FFP concerns with the sale. Newcastle have lost £73.4m. The most a Premier League side can lose over a three-year period is £105m.
Newcastle should expect to lose players they wouldn’t necessarily like to. The Magpies offloaded Allan Saint-Maximin to Al-Ahli in the summer for £22m. Saint-Maximin was key to Newcastle’s Champions League qualification last season but it’s looking like Newcastle will have to lose more of their star players.
Bruno Guimaraes is also a player who could leave St James Park in the summer as he’s been linked with PSG. Kieran Tripper was also on the top of Bayern Munich’s targets list but Newcastle have firmly said no to that deal.
Newcastle’s summer targets
Newcastle do want to spend money in the summer but they’ll have to sell if they want to splash out on players that could take them to the next level.
Kalvin Phillips has been a target for Newcastle. Phillips desperately wants to leave Manchester City as gametime has been scarce since joining from Leeds.
Newcastle’s midfield options haven’t been great this season. Sandro Tonali’s eight-month football didn’t help their cause either. One good thing to come out of it is 17-year-old Lewis Miley who looks he’ll be one for the future.
