Morocco vs DR Congo Preview

Group F favourites Morocco go head-to-head against DR Congo in one of three Africa Cup of Nations fixtures on Sunday, with Walid Regragui’s side looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven straight matches.

They made light work of Tanzania in their opener, besting the East African side by a comfortable 3-0 scoreline thanks to goals from Romain Saiss, Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri. The result saw them propelled to the top of the group, ahead of DR Congo, Zambia and Tanzania.

As for the Congolese, they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Zambia in San Pedro. Brentford frontman Yoane Wissa was the star in that one, netting the leveller just four minutes after the opener to claim a vital point to kickstart their campaign.

A win for Morocco will guarantee a top two finish in the group and advancement to the last-16, which would leave Congo needing to finish in second place in order to guarantee a spot in the next round, however a third place finish may also be enough depending on results elsewhere.

The Moroccans remain with just one injury concern for the clash against the Congo, as Noussair Mazraoui of Bayern Munich, who missed the opener against Tanzania, remains a doubt due to a calf problem.

Former Southampton winger Sofiane Boufal will be hopeful of forcing his way into the starting 11 after featuring as a substitute on Wednesday, however an unchanged line-up seems a more likely scenario.

Morocco Predicted Line-Up

Bono; Hakimi, Aguerd, Saiss, Chibi; Amrabat; Ziyech, Ounahi, Amallah, Ezzalzouli; En-Nesyri
