Moises Caicedo almost joined Arsenal in the January transfer window however the move broke down and now Chelsea are in the hunt for the Ecuadorian.

The Brighton midfielder has caught the eye during his time in the Premier League, showing unique qualities under Graham Potter and Roberto de Zerbi. Making over 21 appearances in the league, Caicedo has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in England.

His move to Arsenal fell-through after the clubs failed to agree on the £70m transfer fee and the 20-year-old even took to social media to show his desire to join the Gunners. After missing a few days of training to try and force a move, the midfielder returned to try and win his supporters back.

Mikel Arteta needed a midfield option as Thomas Partey faces an injury set-back, so the Spaniard turned to Chelsea midfielder Jorginho for £12m. However, with the Gunners being favourites to sign Caicedo and Declan Rice, it is still a position that the Arsenal manager wants to bolster.

Chelsea battled their London rivals for the Ecuador international, as they saw their £65m bid get rejected by the Seagulls. Potter worked with the midfielder previously and with the Blues recent spending many thought they would spend the extra £5m to bring Caicedo in.

It’s looking like a two-horse race for the Brighton star’s signature, as Todd Boehly has shown no signs of slowing down his investment. If the Gunners do pursue the Rice transfer then we could see Caicedo move to the Blue side of London and see yet another Arsenal target be coerced by Chelsea.
