This Weekend could see Mohamed Salah’s 200th Liverpool goal if he gets on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Egyptian superstar scored his 199th for the Reds on 30 November when his side faced Austrian outfit LASK in the UEFA Europa League.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently second in the Premier League. They will need a win to keep pace with leaders Arsenal after the Gunners secured a dramatic 4-3 win at Luton Town on Tuesday. Palace are 14th in the table, with four wins and 16 points to their name.
Should Salah score his 200th Liverpool goal tonight, it would also be his 150th Premier League goal – including two for Chelsea. The 31-year-old will become the fifth Liverpool player in history to reach 200 goals, cementing his place amongst the Anfield aristocracy.
Having joined the club in 2017, Salah arrived from Italian Serie A side AS Roma for £37 million. He scored on his Premier League debut in a 3-3 draw with Watford, and hasn’t looked back since.
Where Does Salah’s 200th Liverpool Goal Rank Him Overall?
But despite his incredible goalscoring record, Salah still has a way to go to become the club’s record scorer – that mantle belongs to Ian Rush.
The legendary Welsh wizard scored a whopping 346 for Liverpool between 1980-1996, including 229 in the league.
Rush is followed by Roger Hunt, who managed 285 Liverpool goals from 1958-1969. Hunt won two league titles and an FA Cup under iconic manager Bill Shankly, and in 1964 scored the first-ever goal shown on BBC’s Match of the Day.
In third place is Gordon Hodgson, with 241 scored in his 11-year career with the Reds from 1925-1936. Hodgson was born in South Africa, scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool while playing for amateur side Transvaal in 1924. That performance caught the eye, with Hodgson signing for the Merseyside club a year later.
Fourth on the list is Billy Liddell. The Scottish winger spent his entire senior career at Anfield, scoring 228 times in 534 appearances from 1938-61. Salah’s 199 goals are enough for fifth in Liverpool’s all-time rankings, having recently overtaken club legend Steven Gerrard (186).
Liverpool’s Top Premier League Scorer
Mo Salah does take top spot in the Premier League era, though. With 149 and counting, the former AS Roma star overtook Robbie Fowler for top spot in March 2023.
And that particular game will live long in the memory for Reds fans. Not only did they witness Salah break the Premier League scoring record, they also saw a record win against Manchester United in a 7-0 thrashing at Anfield.
Steven Gerrard is third on the list behind Fowler and Salah, with 120. Gerrard is followed by Michael Owen (118) and Sadio Mane (90). Roberto Firmino (82) takes sixth spot, with Luis Suarez (69) in seventh.
In eighth place is Fernando Torres with 65 goals. Dirk Kuyt (51) edges Daniel Sturridge (50) to round out Liverpool’s top ten Premier League scorers.
With so many big names well below his tally, it puts Salah potentially scoring his 200th Liverpool goal in just 325 appearances into context.
While he has already earned his place in Liverpool folklore, reaching two significant landmarks in the same game would be some achievement.
