Millwall vs Leicester Preview
The Den plays host to an FA Cup third round matchup between Championship leaders Leicester City and Millwall on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to build on their respective winning runs in the second tier.
After going seven straight matches without a win between the end of November and Boxing Day, the Lions have won three consecutive matches in the league, and are now unbeaten in five games after besting Bristol City 1-0 last time out.
It’s a run that’s taken them a healthy 10 points clear of the drop zone in 15th, and they now find themselves eight points adrift of the promotion play-offs, but are a whopping 33 points behind the Foxes who are at the summit of the table.
Enzo Maresca’s side suffered a slight blip near the beginning of November where they lost two in succession to Leeds and Middlesbrough, however they have since gone 10 straight matches without tasting defeat, seeing them sit 10 points clear of second place Ipswich Town.
The Italian coach masterminded the 2015/16 Premier League champions to a convincing 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town on New Year’s Day, with Ricardo Pereira and Stephy Mavididi grabbing a goal apiece while Irish forward Tom Cannon netted a brace.
