Manchester United are staying in the race for Michael Olise despite the fact it is not their most urgent need for the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all also being linked with Michael Olise at the moment, after the Crystal Palace attacker ended the season with a fine run of form.

A return of 10 goals and six assists from 14 Premier League starts has underlined Olise’s status as one of the division’s premium talents.

The added fact of a release clause in his contract means he is looking likely to leave Palace over the summer.

United have been tracking Olise for most of this season and it was decided back in January that they must be in the conversation to sign him at the end of this term.

Signing a right sided forward is not the priority at Old Trafford but in the case of Olise there is a fear of missing out on one of the best players in that position for the coming years.

When United set out their most important areas for recruitment in the coming months, the defence will be seen as the area in most need of upgrades—especially as top level players will be leaving from the back line.

United will also assess their options in the centre of midfield and in terms of a striker to compete and rotate with Rasmus Hojlund.

Yet there remains a feeling that missing out on 22-year-old Olise would be a moment they regret down the line.

United currently have Antony as their prime asset for the right flank but while his future is up in the air, there is no guarantee anyone actually buys him.

United can also use Marcus Rashford on the wing, Alejandro Garnacho has been used there, and Amad Diallo is breaking through. They also have Jadon Sancho on the books but he is unlikely to return to the frame.

Olise is top of the class when it comes to young, elite right-sided attacking talent in the Premier League and United might look to trigger his clause – thought to be in the region of £60million – in order to make sure their team build for the coming years has them well figured.
