Manchester United and Liverpool are battling it out to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, with UK betting sites pricing a potential move to those clubs at 4/1 and 6/1 respectively.
Mount has been at Chelsea for almost 20 years, being one of their most successful academy graduates. Coming through the ranks with the likes of Reece James, Tammy Abraham, and Fikayo Tomori, the Blues have utilised their homegrown talent well.
The England international broke through under Frank Lampard after the duo worked together at Derby, where Mount shone on loan. Since then the 24-year-old has played 127 Premier League matches, scoring 27 and contributing to 22 assists.
However, this season has been a different story for both Chelsea and the former Derby player, playing 22 times and scoring just three goals. Graham Potter’s arrival has not gone according to plan and with half a billion spent on transfers, the Blues find themselves in 10th place, 11 points off the top four.
Liverpool are also having a dismal season, which most recently saw them lose 5-2 to Real Madrid in the opening leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. Klopp’s men are only four points above Chelsea and have been linked with a variety of players to help turn things around, including Mount.

Manchester United on the other hand are having their best season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, being the only team in Europe in four competitions. Erik ten Hag has completely revolutionised the Red Devils and key signings have been a massive factor in their success.
With both sides looking to strengthen their midfield next season, the Chelsea academy graduate could be someone they look for. But Mount’s recent form could be a worry for the biggest clubs in England, as he could cost them over £60m.
