YouTube and radio presenter Mark Goldbridge has described his beloved Manchester United as a “mid-table” club, following a suffocating defeat at the hands of neighbours Manchester City.
Mark Goldbridge Labels Manchester United a “Mid-Table” Side
Manchester United’s heaviest derby defeat on home soil since March 2014 has once against sent shockwaves through the fanbase, who watched their team suffer a fifth loss already this season.
Manchester City’s 3-0 victory, which was achieved with little exertion, also condemned United to their worst start to a league season since 1989.
Another defeat, made all the more painful by the fact it comes in a local derby, has left Manchester United fans reeling. Conversations across fan pages on social media and among TV pundits intensified last night, with Gary Neville labelling the club a ‘shambles’ whilst once against pointing the finger at the Glazer family.
Mark Goldbridge, who presents the most popular fan-led United channel on YouTube, has chimed in with his take Sunday’s derby.
Speaking on his That’s Football podcast, he gave us a typically comical, yet scathing review of United’s performance, first describing Erling Haaland’s battle with centre-back duo Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans as “a race between two deck chairs and a Porsche.”
He continued by criticising the team as a whole, saying: “Manchester United are a mid-table team, Sacking the manager is not going to change that.
“The club is broken.”
Although he did acknowledge that it had little bearing on the final result, Goldbridge also called for further consistency from referees after a contentious penalty call involving Rasmus Hojlund’s perceived pull-back on Rodri.
“If you’re giving penalties for that, you’ve got to give 10 penalties every game,” he argued.
He would later go on to describe how the Premier League table is starting to “take shape,” admitting that rivals Manchester City look the likeliest to go on and become the first club ever to win a three-peat of league titles in England.
