YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has had his say on the recent controversy surrounding Marcus Rashford, suggesting that Manchester United made the right decision by dropping him against Newport County.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was in the media spotlight for the wrong reasons over the weekend, after he was reportedly spotted in a Belfast nightclub on Thursday, hours before reporting ill for training on Friday.

As a result, the England international was omitted from Manchester United’s travelling squad for their 4th round FA Cup fixture against Newport County, which they won 4-2.

Since then, the Red Devils have released a statement stating that they have dealt with the disciplinary matter internally. In the statement, they said: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”

Goldbridge On Rashford Controversy

YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has now had his say on the Marcus Rashford controversy and suggests the Manchester forward needs to apologise to fans.

Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Goldbridge said: “I think Manchester United have made the right choice and I think the frustration here is that some people just want the world to burn. Some people just want this chaotic season to culminate in the club just basically imploding.

“We have a new ownership of the footballing side and they are eager to make things better. If we see another Sancho situation with Rashford, how are they different to what happened there? They have to do things differently.

“Nobody’s got a bl***y clue what’s happened in that meeting [between Manchester United and Rashford]. I would imagine he’s been given a dressing down.

“I don’t actually think Rashford’s walked in there and gone ‘right, this is how it’s going to be, I’m Marcus Rashford, this is my PR, I’m not apologising, I’m back in the team on Thursday, don’t ever drop me for Newport again, I’m off down the pub.’

“I would heavily suggest that he’s been pulled into that meeting and been told he’s on his last chance. I think he’s been told ‘Get your act together!’

“I think we need an apology from the player. Marcus Rashford should apologise for being out on the p*** the night before training.”
