Marcus Rashford will face fresh scrutiny on his club career as he deals with the disappointment of being dropped from the England squad for Euro 2024.

The Manchester United forward is one of the big-name casualties following Gareth Southgate’s confirmed provisional squad to travel to Germany.
Rashford was able to hide his dismay as he posted on social media: “Wishing Gareth and the boys all the best for the up and coming tournament.”
Yet Southgate’s admission that “other players have had better seasons” will be difficult to take, despite knowing in recent months that his place was on the line.
Rashford’s lack of form this season has been obvious, as his seven goals and two assists failed to convince the England boss that he was the right candidate for the Three Lions.
The Englishman was left out against Belgium in March, but had played in seven England games this season before that moment and may have thought he had a good chance of being selected due to his past experience.
The Red Devils will now feel that the fall-out from this decision is a major setback in terms of confidence for their number 10.
Erik ten Hag’s side face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday 25th May and Rashford is on a run of seven games without a goal.
He was once the star boy of this team yet Rashford’s future at the club has been cast into doubt over the course of the past year.
It is expected that Manchester United will not make him available for transfer this summer and that is largely due to the fact his market value has been dropping rapidly.
But it has also become clear that Rashford is not pushing for a move away from the club either. It is understood that Rashford has already had conversations with club officials about his role moving forward, as he wants to understand the club’s vision and how he fits in.
Rashford has lacked consistency and needs to feel comfortable in the way the team is being built moving forward, so that he can have confidence in his ability to thrive.
United have tried to assure him that he is important to them. It is not impossible that Rashford would leave the club if a mega-offer was to arrive – but at the moment there is no expectation that will happen.
