Marcus Rashford has starred as the headline act of Manchester United‘s abysmal start to the 2023/24 campaign, where they sit eighth in the Premier League and are at risk of dropping out of the Champions League in the group stages.
On Wednesday night, Rashford was shown a straight red card against Copenhagen whilst United were 2-0 up – which completely derailed their momentum and led the Danish outfit on their way to a triumphant 4-3 comeback victory.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Newcastle and increased scrutiny on Rashford’s performances could prove to be too hot to handle for the England international, who could now seek a move abroad.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign last year, scoring 30 goals and adding 11 assists in all competitions but he hasn’t been able to replicate that form in the slightest, leaving supporters understandably frustrated.
Before signing a new contract at Old Trafford until 2028 in July, Rashford reportedly turned down an astonishing £400,000-a-week deal to sign for Ligue 1 giants PSG and partner Kylian Mbappe up front in Paris.
The French outfit are thought to be huge admirers of the player and they lead the race for his signature at this current point, whilst a move to the Saudi Pro League is also on the cards.
Neil Roarty, Betting Expert at SportsLens, said: “Marcus Rashford’s situation at Manchester United has almost become toxic, which has seen him personally reply in disgust to fan channels on social media who suggested his future at the club could be in doubt.
“He was keen on a move away under Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell, and if Erik ten Hag can’t start to find consistent results then we can’t blame the player for having a wandering eye and thinking what life could be like outside of Manchester.
“Rashford hasn’t looked the same determined and highly-motivated character this season that United fans have long adored and it could be time to move on in the interest of both parties.”
