Marcus Rashford has struggled all season in front of goal and his latest showing against Newcastle cast fresh doubts on his commitment to Manchester United’s cause. The Red Devils and Rashford have looked laboured in large parts of the 2023/24 campaign and the England star has come under scrutiny for his individual displays.
Rashford’s goal drought – in particular at Old Trafford – has been a huge cause of concern but it’s not just his poor scoring record that has been picked up on, his body language strongly suggests he has lost the fire in his belly. Rashford, however, can reinvent himself if he can find a way to make Old Trafford feel like home again.
Marcus Rashford Goal Drought
Marcus Rashford’s goal drought is hard to understand – considering how well he performed last season – and his fall from grace has been alarming. Granted, he did score a penalty in the Premier League match week 13 win over Everton at Goodison Park, but his last goal before that came in September.
That goal – which came against Arsenal – was also netted away from home but at this stage of the season he should and could have had a lot more than the two paltry Premier League efforts to his name. In terms of assists, Rashford also has two in England’s elite and two in the UEFA Champions League.

Marcus Rashford Man Utd Stats
Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United stats since making his debut for the club have, on the whole, been impressive. In his 252 Premier League appearances, he has netted 78 times and recorded 46 assists. In all competitions, Rashford has 125 goals to his name and 72 assists from a total of 377 matches.
Last year, Rashford had his best season to date and was arguably rivalling Kylian Mbappe as one of the best left wingers/attackers in world football. The England man netted 30 goals in all competitions, eight more than his previous best with 17 of those goals coming in the Premier League, equalling his record from 2019/20.
Marcus Rashford At Old Trafford
As the old saying goes, ‘there’s no place like home’ and that really hasn’t been the case for Marcus Rashford in recent times. His last goal on home soil came back in May when he netted in a 4-1 victory over Chelsea at the back end of last season. Since then, it’s been a genuine struggle in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
Rashford faces Bournemouth on match week 16, with the best UK betting sites making Manchester United the match favourites at 11/20, with the draw 15/4 and the Cherries 21/4. There would be no better time for Rashford to rediscover his scoring touch and getting his season back on track, especially on home turf in front of an expectant crowd.
