Eric Ten Hag’s Manchester United host Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham at Old Trafford in the Premier League this Sunday.
Manchester United Vs Tottenham is always one of the most-anticipated dates in the Premier League calendar. While not a rivalry in the traditional sense, the two sides have been part of the ‘big six’ for a long time now, and are always a good matchup.
With both sides suffering from spells of poor form and inconsistency, it’s anyone’s guess who will emerge victorious at the weekend.
United are currently eighth in the table with 31 points, having crashed out of the UEFA Champions League already. They beat League One neighbours Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round last time out, but have won just once in their last five Premier League matches.
Spurs meanwhile are hunting down the top four, with Postecoglou’s men fifth at present, one point and one place below their North London rivals Arsenal in fourth.
They also triumphed in cup action most recently, defeating Burnley 1-0 following a 3-1 league win over Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.
Sunday’s clash will matter plenty for both sides, and should throw up a few fireworks.
But while moving to a Premier League rival is often frowned upon by fans, there have been several big names to don both United and Spurs kits during their careers.
Ahead of the latest edition of Manchester United Vs Tottenham, we’ve had a look at six men who’ve done exactly that.
Players Who’ve Played For Manchester United And Tottenham
1. Christian Eriksen
First off and probably most obvious due to the recency is Christian Eriksen. A Spurs hero for much of his career, the former Tottenham man spent seven years in North London, racking up over 300 appearances.
He joined Inter Milan in Serie A in January 2020, before moving back to England with Brentford. He’s since signed for United in 2022 and made 62 appearances for the Red Devils.
2. Teddy Sheringham
A legend of the game, Teddy Sheringham actually moved from Tottenham to United, then back to Tottenham. In his four seasons at Old Trafford, he won the Champions League, FA Cup and three Premier League titles.
However, despite playing 153 times for United, and scoring 46 goals, it’s his years at Spurs where the striker was most deadly. In 267 games for Tottenham, Sheringham scored 115 goals, with 38 assists.
3. Dimitar Berbatov
Bulgarian magician Dimitar Berbatov is often regarded as perhaps the most technically gifted player to ever grace the Premier League. Incredibly skilful and creative, the forward starred for both clubs before joining Fulham in 2013.
Berbatov is the only man besides Sheringham to manage more than 100 games for Both United and Spurs in the modern era. He played 102 times for Tottenham, with 149 United games.
4. Michael Carrick
Now managing Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship, former England midfielder Carrick is best known for his successful 12 years at Old Trafford.
But when he joined United in 2006, it was Tottenham he signed from. Carrick played 75 games for Spurs before going on to make a whopping 464 appearances for United in all competitions.
With five Premier League winners medals, a Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, three League Cups and a Club World Cup, it’s hard to argue he made the wrong decision in joining Sir Alex Ferguson’s incredibly dominant side.
5. Serge Reguilon
Moving back into the current era, Serge Reguilon is another recent player to switch from Spurs to United, albeit temporarily. The 27-year-old Spaniard came through at Real Madrid before joining Tottenham in 2020.
He’s since had a loan spell with Atletico Madrid, so we’re sure moving from Spurs to United was far less daunting for him.
And that’s exactly what he did in September 2023, as he joined United on loan for the first half of the season. Now back at Tottenham after United terminated his loan agreement, he is one of even fewer people to play for both clubs in one season.
6. Louis Saha
And last on our list is former French international, Louis Saha. Saha enjoyed the best years of his career at Fulham and United, moving from Craven Cottage to Old Trafford in January 2004.
With 42 goals in 124 United games, he picked up a Champions League and two Premier League titles, as well as the League Cup.
After several years at Everton following his United departure, Saha joined Tottenham for the second half of the 2011/12 season. He would play 12 times for Spurs before moving to Sunderland the following year.
