Manchester United vs Tottenham (2-2): Points Shared Between Spurs And United At Old Trafford
It took Manchester United just over three minutes to break the deadlock at Old Trafford, as Rasmus Hojlund ripped the ball into the roof of the net with the first real chance of the game.
Marcus Rashford carried the ball into the box from the left wing and although he wasn’t able to release an effort himself, the ball deflected into Hojlund’s path with the Danish forward making no mistake from close range to take the lead.
Tottenham almost replied five minutes later, but two goalie clearances from Diogo Dalot and Jonny Evans kept the hosts in front as Spurs applied the pressure.
Despite missing some early chances Spurs weren’t behind long on Sunday afternoon, as Richarlison nodded home a corner in the 20th minute to level things up after an open start to the game.
Rashford teased the Tottenham defence with a dinked ball over the top as half time approached, which Destiny Udogie nodded onto his own crossbar in a nervy moment for the visitors.
It was United who would take the lead just before half time, with Marcus Rashford scoring his second goal in his last two matches to send a wave of relief around Old Trafford.
Tottenham came out for the second half all guns blazing, with a goal from Rodrigo Bentancur levelling the score again just under a minute into the second period.
The Uruguayan midfielder was allowed to drive into the box with no United defenders closing him down, as he let a stinging shot go with his left foot that had Andre Onana rooted to the spot.
Spurs dominated most of the second half but couldn’t find a winner during the second period, with the points shared after a close game in Manchester.
