Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit for Ajax defender, Jurrien Timber, after the Dutchman revealed his desire to leave the Netherlands this summer.

The Red Devils are having a stellar season under Erik ten Hag, after winning the Carabao Cup and looking on track to finish in the Top Four places.

Since joining the club in the summer last year, the Dutch manager has managed 54 matches, winning 37 and losing nine in all competitions.

With the club looking likely to be in the Champions League next season, the pool of potential additions will be increased and one player who could be on his way to Manchester is Ajax defender, Jurrien Timber.

The 21-year-old has made 42 appearances this season and has expressed a desire to leave his home nation at the end of the campaign.

Ten Hag has worked with the young defender previously during his time in Holland and is said to be a big fan of the Dutchman’s versatility, playing as centre back and a full back.

In a recent presser Timber revealed the latest on his situation in Holland, giving a huge boost to United’s potential move.

The Dutchman said: “My transfer is getting closer. There is a lot of specific interest for the summer. Last summer, Ajax asked me to renew my contract and to stay for one more season. Out of love for the club, I did this.”

The side from Manchester look set to sign a host of players this summer, with Harry Kane, Mohammed Kudus and Frenkie de Jong all being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Signings have been pivotal in the club’s success this season, with Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro being nominated for United’s Player Of The Year award.
