Amid injury struggles amongst their current set of defenders, Manchester United are reportedly keen on making a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

United Eye Guehi Move

According to the South London Press, Manchester United are tracking Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as they look to add defensive reinforcements to their squad.

The Red Devils have struggled in regards to their defenders’ fitness since the start of the campaign, with the likes of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all currently out injured, which led to the unlikely centre-back pairing of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans being fielded against Brentford in their last league match.

Guehi, who is a product of the Chelsea academy, is being eyed as a potential option to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s defensive options, with the Red Devils said to be keen on a summer move for the England international.

Having penned a five-year deal at Selhurst Park in 2021, Guehi has established himself as a key figure in the Crystal Palace squad and has formed a formidable partnership with Joachim Andersen at the back.

The 23-year-old has turned out for the Eagles 91 times since joining from Chelsea having spent time on loan in the Championship with Swansea prior to that, and any move for the defender would likely eclipse the club’s current record sale of £50million when Wan-Bissaka departed for Old Trafford in 2019.

A possible stumbling block for the Red Devils though, is that his former club at Stamford Bridge hold ‘matching rights’ in the event that Palace accept a bid for him according to the South London Press, meanwhile the Mirror report that the Blues will receive 25% of the fee if he is sold due to a sell-on clause in his contract.
