Manchester United are reportedly interested in making a surprise summer move for Fulham and Portugal star Joao Palhinha, as their search for a midfielder continues.
The Red Devils are enjoying a successful season so far, sitting in the top four and winning the Carabao Cup – ending their six-year wait for a major trophy.
Erik ten Hag has rejuvenated a club that appeared to be down and out when he joined in the summer of last year. The impact that Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez has highlighted the importance of signing players and the Dutchman is set to make some additions in the summer.
A position that many supporters want to see strengthened is in central midfield, with the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Moises Caicedo being linked. However, with the constant need for improvement the United hierarchy may look to bring more than one midfielder in to Old Trafford this summer.
Another player that has been rumoured with a move to Manchester is Fulham star, Joao Palhinha. The Portugal international has surprised supporters with his level of performance this season and has caught the attention of the Manchester United manager.

Palhinha has impressed with his qualities both in the defensive phase and even contributing to attacks. His defensive prowess has seen him make the most tackles in the Premier League this season, with a whopping 105.
Fulham’s form has started to dwindle after Alexander Mitrovic was handed an eight match suspension for his confrontation with a referee. Given Marco Silva’s side recent form, the Portuguese midfielder may be tempted to move elsewhere in the summer.
Arsenal are reportedly set to battle United for the 26-year-old’s signature, however the Gunners look favourites to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice.
