This month could be the coldest ever for much of North West England, as Manchester’s coldest weather on record betting odds show.
Manchester has endured a particularly frosty January this year. With multiple days of heavy snow and icy conditions, people have been shivering for most of 2024 so far.
Average temperatures in the city in January are from 2-6°C, but can reach much lower. The coldest temperature ever recorded in Manchester was -17.6°C, on 7 January 2010.
But forecasts for the remainder of January this year are far milder. Locals can expect highs of 13°C on Thursday 25 January, with a low of 3°C overnight on Friday 26.
However, after such a cold first half of the month, we could still see records broken.
As a result, we at SportsLens have examined the latest betting odds for Manchester’s coldest weather on record.
Manchester Coldest Weather On Record Betting Odds
Coldest January since records began: 9/2
Coldest Year since records began: 14/1
The lowest recorded temperature in Manchester this month was -8°C, which was recorded overnight on 18 January.
And at 9/2, the latest cold weather betting odds show there’s still a chance that January 2024 might be the coldest January in Manchester since records began.
As for the probability of Manchester’s coldest year in history being this year, the odds are slimmer. With average temperatures creeping up worldwide, cold weather records are broken less frequently.
But there are still outliers. At 14/1, it’s not beyond possibility that this could be the coldest year ever for Manchester. And with people wrapped up to shelter from the cold in recent weeks, it is far from implausible.
The Met Office predicts Manchester temperatures won’t be quite so chilly for the rest of January, though. Their forecast shows a grey outlook, with drizzle and cloud predicted for the next week.
Things don’t get much nicer into February, either. Currently, it is expected to rain almost every day until 6 February, as far as the forecast shows.
