Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Report: Blues Pick Up Crucial Win
Manchester City welcomed an injury-beckoned Spurs side and the match got off to a flying start – as Son Heung-Min put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute.
However, the Spurs captain was involved in the action once again, as three minutes later he diverted the ball into his own net and the score was level.
On the 31st minute, Manchester City took the lead for the first time as Phil Foden finished off a silky team move – notching his fourth goal of the season.
The second-half started off slowly, as neither side managed to grab a hold of the match until the 69th minute,where Spurs found an equaliser through Giovani Lo Celso.
City pushed for a winner and they were rewarded in the 81st minute, as substitute Jack Grealish smashed the ball into the bottom corner.
Many expected that to be the end of things, but Spurs had other ideas, Dejan Kulusevski’s header in the 90th minute bounced off the crossbar and into the goal – bringing the visitors level once again.
In the dying minutes of the match, referee Simon Hooper caused huge controversy as he failed to play advantage despite Grealish being in on goal – leaving Pep Guardiola furious.
The hosts also had a late penalty claim, but VAR claimed there was not a foul and Spurs held on to a well-deserved point away from home
