Manchester City vs Crystal Palace (2-2) Report: Michael Olise Rescues Late Point
Manchester City were made to work for all three points on Saturday afternoon, with some of their big names missing out on the action through injury.
With Erling Haaland injured this weekend, City needed to find another goalscorer in their squad and it was Jack Grealish who stepped up first for the hosts.
Phil Foden was given way too much time and space on the edge off the box, with the midfielder sliding an inch perfect ball in behind the Crystal Palace defence for Jack Grealish.
Grealish made no mistake from close range to net the first of the game 25 minutes into the match, with the hosts heading down the tunnel at half time with the advantage.
City doubled their advantage just before the hour mark, with Rico Lewis scoring his first Manchester City goal to surely put his side out of reach with half an hour left.
Crystal Palace wouldn’t lie down at the Etihad though, with John-Philipe Mateta scoring on his return to the starting lineup to make for an interesting 15 minutes.
In a dramatic late twist the visitors were awarded a penalty, after Phil Foden pulled his man down in the box, which handed Palace a glorious opportunity at securing the most unlikely off points.
Michael Olise stepped up to take the crucial penalty deep into added time, with the Palace star making no mistake from 12 yards to rescue the most unlikely of points.
