Manchester City vs Chelsea (1-1) Report: Sky Blues Convert One Of 32 Attempts On Goal In Frustrating Draw
Manchester City missed an opportunity to close the gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table following a draw against Chelsea at the Etihad on Saturday evening.
The reigning champions found themselves behind on the stroke of half-time when former player Raheem Sterling stunned the crowd to give the visitors a shock lead in Manchester.
City accumulated an xG of 2.91 throughout the match compared to Chelsea‘s 1.58 and the hosts dominated possession with 71%, but Pep Guardiola’s side had to settle for a point in the end.
It will feel like two points dropped for City who levelled the game with ten minutes to play when Rodri found the back of the net, but the Sky Blues couldn’t produce the heroics to snatch a win.
The result leaves City four points off Liverpool at the top, but the Manchester outfit have a game in hand to look forward to and the title race could well come down to the individual meetings between the contenders.
Chelsea are now undefeated in three games across all competitions with a fourth round FA Cup win and a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their stride – and Mauricio Pochettino desperately needs the good results to continue.
