It’s no secret that Pep Guardiola will be in the market for a new left-back this summer, so Davies could end up being their number one target in the upcoming transfer window.

The Citizens now look set to challenge Real Madrid for one of the fastest players in the world.

City are still on course for a historic treble as they continue to keep hot on the heels of Premier League leaders Arsenal, and remain favourites to lift both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

However, since the departure of Joao Cancelo in January with the Portugal international joining Bayern on loan, City haven’t really played with an out-and-out left-back.

Guardiola has utilised Nathan Ake as both a left sided centre back and left-back at different stages of the season with various formations being tried out.

They do also have Sergio Gomez at their disposal for that position on the field, but the youngster has struggled for minutes, even with Cancelo’s shock loan move.

Well, if there’s ever a player to slot right into left-back then it’s Alphonso Davies.

Since joining Bayern in 2019, Davies has made 151 appearances scoring eight goals with 25 assists in the process.

In that time, he’s helped Bayern lift four Bundesliga titles along with a  Champions League and two DFB-Pokals. You can find more Man City transfer news here.
