The latest Man United transfer exclusive from SportsLens reveals that the side are ready to cut ties with Sofyan Amrabat at the end of the season and not sign him permanently.
Sofyan Amrabat Not To Be Offered United Deal
Manchester United are not planning to take up their option to buy Sofyan Amrabat at the end of the season. The club are believed to be looking towards new midfield solutions for the summer, even if the Morocco International can forge a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season.
Insiders say there is even a general feeling of relief that Amrabat was not signed on a permanent deal, as originally planned. And, in line with letting him return to Fiorentina, the club are stepping up their scouting missions for the midfield and do plan to sign at least one such player before next season.
Erik ten Hag‘s side already have a handful of players they are tracking but plan to bring more options to the table over the next five months. Midfield is an area of key focus in 2024 as United are also set to face a dilemma over Casemiro.
Casemiro Could Also Stay In Manchester
The vibe around Old Trafford has been that he will also leave at the end of the season, amid rumours of a switch to Saudi Arabia, yet he is on the verge of a comeback that could give the club food for thought.
Casemiro has been edging closer to match action, following a hamstring injury he suffered in November. And when he makes his return he will be slotting in alongside young Kobbie Mainoo, giving United’s bigwigs a chance to cast an eye over a new partnership.
Mainoo has been a breath of fresh air since breaking through this season but has not yet found the right midfield set-up to fully flourish. An opportunity to play alongside the experienced Casemiro may unlock a different version of the team, and give United something to think about in terms of whether they definitely sell the Brazilian.
United lack older heads in the squad and as part of the Ineos part-takeover there has been a cautious approach to accepting that players like Casemiro and Rafael Varane can just be moved on.
