Manchester City Injury Update

Aymeric Laporte will be allowed to leave this summer if he wished to do so. With lots of transfer news expected to begin as the season nears an end. Laporte transfer news is something not many would have expected.

Laporte was at one stage a key figure in the Man City team. However, after a season plagued with injuries, he has struggled to cement his place in the starting team. This season he’s made just seven league appearances for the Premier League champions.

The former Athletic Bilbao man joined for £57 million in 2018. He has gone on to make 172 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s men but his lack of game time this season has left him frustrated.

The Spain international had surgery on a knee injury, which left him out until October. The form of the likes of John Stones, Rúben Dias and Nathan Ake has made it hard for him to get back in the squad.

Pep is understood to be happy for Laporte to leave if he wishes to do so. It’s a sale that would be similar to that of Raheem Sterling to Chelsea last summer. That move came as a surprise to many within the game as Sterling had been a key part to the side, but with his game time lacking, Pep allowed Sterling to move. We also saw Pep do the same with the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

If a move is to materialise for the Spanish defender, he won’t be short of admirers. Laporte transfer news will be a big topic this summer.
