Luton vs Arsenal Preview

Premier League leaders Arsenal make the hour trip up to Kenilworth Road on Tuesday where they’ll take on newly-promoted Luton Town at 20:15, coming into the tie off the back of a narrow 2-1 win over Wolves.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard’s early goals were enough to ensure three points at the Emirates on Saturday, a win that extended their winning run to five consecutive matches – following on from the stunning 6-0 win over Lens in the Champions League.

The Gunners are now two points clear at the top of the table heading into gameweek 15 after Manchester City dropped points against Tottenham, meanwhile the Hatters find themselves in a lowly-17th, just two points clear of the drop zone.

Rob Edwards’ side were denied a late fightback by Brentford on Saturday as Jacob Brown netted in a second successive Premier League match to reduce the deficit to 2-1 with 15 minutes to go, but for the Bees to restore their two goal lead just five minutes later.

Luton’s win over Crystal Palace last month is their sole victory in all competitions since the beginning of October, therefore anything other than a defeat to the free-flowing Gunners looks to be a tall order for Bedfordshire-based side.

Luton Team News

As expected, club captain Tom Lockyer misses out for the Hatters after being forced off with a back injury last time out, along with fellow injury absentees Daniel Potts, Mads Andersen, Reece Burke, Cauley Woodrow and Marvelous Nakamba.

Teden Mengi, who has just returned from injury himself, replaces Lockyer in the line-up, while Edwards has made a further three changes in attack with Jacob Brown, Andros Townsend and Elijah Adebayo starting in place of Chiedozie Ogbene, Tahith Chong and Carlton Morris.

The aforementioned Ogbene, Chong and Morris have all been named on the bench and can be hopeful of a cameo in the second period, with Tim Krul, Ryan Giles, Joseph Johnson, Jordan Clark, Zack Nelson and Luke Berry also named amongst the substitutes.

As standard, Ben White has come in to replace the Japan international, but a surprise inclusion in the Gunners XI is Jakub Kiwior, who replaces Oleksandr Zinchenko in left-back.

It’s a return to the line-up for Kai Havertz as well, who starts in midfield ahead of Jorginho and Leandro Trossard, who are named on the bench alongside Aaron Ramsdale, Zinchenko, Reuell Walters, Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elneny, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.
