Luton Town vs Manchester United (1-2) Report: Catch Him If You Can, Rasmus Hojlund Can’t Stop Scoring
Manchester United seized an opportunity to close the gap to Tottenham Hotspur in fifth with a win over Luton Town, leaving the Red Devils just three points behind Spurs in the Premier League table after 25 games played.
Erik ten Hag’s side are undefeated in 2024 with six wins in their last seven including four straight in the league. The race for a Champions League spot is on and Premier League betting sites price United at 11/2 to finish in the top four.
Rasmus Hojlund continued his impressive scoring run for the visitors on Super Sunday in Luton, breaking the deadlock inside the first 60 seconds and adding another five minutes later.
The hosts hit back through Carlton Morris to reduce the deficit to one before the 15 minute mark but that was the end of the action at Kenilworth Road as United missed numerous opportunities to put the game to bed.
The Red Devils missed a total of three big chances, one from each of Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho. It wasn’t the attack’s finest day at the office but they did enough damage early on to see out the win.
Hojlund became the youngest-ever player to score in six consecutive Premier League matches aged 21 years and 14 days old and the Danish youngster is repaying every penny of the £72m paid to bring him to Old Trafford.
What Next For Luton Town & Manchester United?
Luton are right in the thick of a relegation battle in their first top-flight season and it’s been a disappointing February for the Hatters who went unbeaten throughout January. Rob Edwards’ side travel to Anfield to face league leaders Liverpool in midweek.
As for Manchester United, it’s yet another important three points on the board. Old Trafford awaits Fulham’s arrival next Saturday in United’s next league game.
