Real Madrid star Luka Modric could be set for a reunion with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, as the Croatian is yet to agree a new deal in Spain.

The 37-year-old signed for Los Blancos in 2012, playing a pivotal role in the clubs success in the last decade. His list of accolades in Spain is tremendous, winning five Champions League trophies, three La Liga titles and even the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

Making over 400 appearances for the 14-time UCL winners, has established himself as one of the best midfielders of all time. However, this year has been a far tougher test for the Croatian and Real Madrid, as they sit in second-place, 12 points behind rivals Barcelona.

Their fortunes in the Champions League have been a saving grace for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, progressing to the quarter finals after an emphatic 6-2 aggregate victory over Liverpool. Modric was influential throughout and showed how he can still compete at 37-years of age.

The Croatia international’s current contract runs out at the end of the season, with renewal negotiations ongoing but yet to be confirmed. Meaning a possible exit could be on the cards and one club that are interested is Al-Nassr, the home of former Madrid star- Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since signing for the Saudi Arabian side, Ronaldo has scored nine goals in ten matches which includes a four-goal display against Al-Wedha. His success in a short period of time could be a factor in Modric’s decision to leave Real Madrid, as they are both in the latter stages of their illustrious careers.

Not only do Madrid boast a multitude of world-class midfielders, with the likes of Eduard Camavinga and Federico Valverde showing their class this season. But the Spanish giants are also linked with Jude Bellingham, which could see Modric made surplus to requirements.
