Potter’s time in the capital came to an end on Monday after the Blues lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at the weekend. This defeat was the final nail in the coffin, ending a poor six month spell that only saw 12 wins from 31 matches.

This is now Chelsea’s second search for a manager in this campaign and they’ll be hoping to hire a more successful candidate this time. Potter has been linked with both the Leicester and West Ham job but the 47-year-old reportedly wants a ‘break from football’.

A plethora of names have been rumoured to take the reigns at the 2021 Champions League winners, but the favourites are, former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and the aforementioned Luis Enrique.

Nagelsmann’s time at Munich came to an abrupt end after the club surprisingly dismissed the young manager due to ‘poor league form’. His side sat second in the Bundesliga and were only one point behind their fierce rivals, Borussia Dortmund.

The former RB Leipzig manager had also done well in the Champions League, as his side dispatched of Paris Saint-Germain in dominant fashion.  However, He was given his marching orders and Thomas Tuchel, formerly of Chelsea, was brought in as a replacement.

Another option that the Blues are reportedly keen on exploring, is hiring former Spain manager Luis Enrique. The Spaniard was at the helm in Barcelona also and managed the historic 2016 side.

This would be Enrique’s first job outside of his home nation and should he be appointed, Blues fans will be hoping he can keep those allegiances aside in their UCL tie against La Liga giants, Real Madrid.
