Here at SportsLens we have decided to take a deep dive into Lopez’s boxing career. Here is everything you need to know about the Mexican’s record, his record in world title fights and how many knockouts he has on his resumé.
Luis Alberto Lopez Record
The IBF World Featherweight Title has been in the hands of Luis Alberto Lopez for over a year now. Since winning the belt as a big underdog with the best boxing betting sites against Josh Warrington, ‘El Venado’ has solidified himself as one of the best fighters in the featherweight division.
Up to now in his professional boxing career, Lopez has barely put a foot wrong. In his 32 professional fights, the Mexican has had his hand raised all but twice. Lopez is certainly one of the most emphatic fighters in the 126-pound division, and could well be the very best of the lot.
Of those 30 pro boxing victories, the Mexican has finished 17 of his opponents inside the scheduled distance. Since making his professional debut back in November 2015, the 30-year-old won his first four fights via points. Then, Lopez won four of his next five bouts via knockout. Since then, Lopez has added another 13 stoppages to his impressive resumé.
Some big names in boxing circles such as Michael Conlan, Joet Gonzalez, Josh Warrington, Reiya Abe, Gabriel Flores Jr, Andy Vences and Ray Ximenez are just some of the names ‘El Venado’ has beaten up to now in his professional boxing career.
Lopez has had a fantastic career so far. Almost punch perfect. He has gradually stepped up levels each and every time he has fought. The only defeats on his record came at the hands of Abraham Montoya and Ruben Villa. Both of these fights were extremely close, with Lopez unfortunate to lose both.

Since then, Lopez has bounced back with some almightily impressive wins. He fought Andy Vences in July 2020, winning a close split decision in a fight that he was the underdog in. This was the beginning of the resurgence of ‘El Venado’, who has looked fantastic since.
In a fight that looked incredibly tough on paper against Josh Warrington, the Mexican put on the best performance of his career. Lopez silenced the hostile Leeds crowd by defeating their hero via majority decision.
‘The Leeds Warrior’ was expected to win and was the favourite with UK betting sites, but Lopez had other ideas and well and truly upset the apple cart, becoming world champion in the process.
Then, Lopez picked up his 28th win as a professional boxer, make a successful first defence of his world crown in the process. Lopez brutally stopped Michael Conlan in five rounds in Belfast, defending his world title for the first time in the process.
Then came the latest victories on his resumé against Joet Gonzalez and Reiya Abe respectively. Lopez outpointed Gonzalez in his final fight of 2023, before getting 2024 off the the best possible start with an eighth round knockout of Abe in New York, making the third successful defence of his IBF World Featherweight Title.
The Luis Alberto Lopez record is a stellar one, that is for sure. Huge unification clashes at 126-pounds could be on the cards for ‘El Venado’ in 2024. You certainly wouldn’t put it past him coming out top of the crop.
