This month could be one of the coldest ever in England’s capital, as London’s coldest weather on record betting odds show.
London has been particularly cold this month. With a very frosty January so far, Londoners have spent recent weeks shivering.
The city’s average January temperatures are usually near 5°C, but have been recorded far colder. London’s lowest temperature on record is -16.1°C, on 1 January 1962.
Over the last week of January, things are expected to be a lot milder, though. The capital can expect highs of 14°C on Tuesday 30 January, with lows of 2°C overnight on Friday 26.
However, after icy temperatures in the first half of January, there’s still a chance records could be broken.
With that in mind, we at SportsLens have taken a look at the latest betting odds for London’s coldest weather on record.
London Coldest Weather On Record Betting Odds
Coldest January since records began: 7/1
Coldest Year since records began: 25/1
The lowest temperature seen in London this January was -4°C, which was recorded overnight on several occasions.
At 7/1, the latest cold weather betting odds show it’s still possible for January 2024 to be the coldest in London’s history.
What’s far less likely is for this year to be the coldest ever recorded in London. Worldwide average temperatures are on the up, so cold weather records don’t get broken as often as they used to.
That isn’t to say it can’t happen, though. But at 25/1, it’s an outside bet. If you’re one of the Londoner’s who’s been sheltering from the cold all month, you can be forgiven for thinking those odds need shortening.
The Met Office expects London temperatures won’t be too cold for the rest of January, though. Their forecast shows mostly cloudy days until the end of the month, with some sunny spells possible over the weekend.
February appears similarly grey, with overcast weather for as long as the forecast shows.
