Liverpool vs West Ham (5-1) Report: Reds Hit Five Against Lacklustre Hammers

After a 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool cruised into the Carabao Cup semi-finals with a staggering one-sided display against West Ham at Anfield.

Despite six goals in the game, it took the home side 28 minutes to open the scoring thanks to another cup stunner from Domink Szoboszlai. The Hungarian netted his fifth goal for the club as he fired a superb 25-yard strike into the bottom corner.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side led 1-0 at the break and Curtis Jones doubled their lead 11 minutes into the second half. He was slipped through by Darwin Nunez and converted cooly through the legs of Alphonse Areola, who was clearly not expecting the shot. His goal was the 500th that Liverpool had scored in the competition.

The Reds were not finished there and Cody Gakpo was given plenty of space on the edge of the box and he diverted a low shot into the bottom corner with precision, making it 3-0.

Mohamed Salah of course also had to get in on the act and he raced clear of the Irons defence, slotting the ball beyond a helpless Areola as the hosts stormed to a 4-0 lead.

Jarrod Bowen continued his strong form this season when getting a consolation for West Ham with a stunning strike but it was too little too late against a Rampant Liverpool side.

Jones rounded off a perfect performance from the Merseyside club as he scored his second of the night late on, securing a 5-1 win.
