According to UK betting sites, Liverpool are surprise contenders to sign Inter star, Nicolo Barella, despite heavy interest from Newcastle.
The Reds failed to qualify for the Champions League in the 2022-23 campaign, as they finished fifth in the Premier League. Meaning Jurgen Klopp’s side will compete in the Europa League for the first time in over five seasons.
A mix of injuries and poor performances concluded a disappointing year for the red side of Merseyside and a host of players have been confirmed to leave the club this summer.
Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner have all parted ways with Liverpool, with Milner being the first to announce a new club as he will play for Brighton next season.
With these departures, a variety of additions are expected in a huge overhaul this summer and Brighton star, Alexis Mac Allister is the first player to join Klopp’s squad – signing from Brighton for £35m.

The Argentinian impressed during his time at the Amex, however, he is not the only midfield signing that is expected this summer. As according to UK betting sites, Liverpool are in the running to sign Inter Milan superstar, Nico Barella.
Making 187 appearances for the Serie A giants, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe and has attracted interest from Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe’s side had reportedly made a £5om bid for the Italy international, however, the deals is yet to be agreed and Barella is still a target for other clubs, including Liverpool.
With two years remaining on his deal at the San Siro, any deal to land the tenacious midfielder will be easier said than done – especially as the Reds can not offer UCL football.
