Liverpool have seen their title odds slashed after a 3-1 victory over Wolves, goals from Cody Gakpo, Andrew Robertson and Harvey Elliot were enough to secure all three points.

Match Report

The Reds started the match poorly and were behind in the first eight minutes. Pedro Neto, who was a threat throughout, found the oncoming Hwang Hee-Chan and the Korean’s effort proved too much for Alisson.

Gary O’Neil’s side continued to dominate for the remainder of the half and were close to doubling their lead, however, Matheus Cunha misjudged his header from six-yards out.

Liverpool went into the break behind, and Wolves were left wondering how they weren’t further ahead given the amount of chances they created.

Jurgen Klopp acted strongly at half time, as the German manager brought on Luis Diaz for Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool started the half well and were rewarded in the 55th minute, as Cody Gakpo converted from a Mohamed Salah cross to level things. The Dutchman was then substituted for Darwin Nunez – making his last touch of the match a vital one.

Klopp’s side were far better in the second half and were rewarded for their pressure in the 85th minute. Mohamed Salah was provider once again, as he found Andrew Robertson and the Scotsman fired the ball past Alisson.

Harvey Elliot sealed the victory with a late strike, which was given as a Hugo Bueno own goal, to make it 3-1 and Liverpool held on for the final five minutes meaning they left Molineux with all three points.

Can Liverpool Push For The Title?

After finishing fifth in the Premier League last year, the Reds will be looking to finish back in the Top Four once again. However, following an undefeated start this season, ambitions are now on winning the Premier League.

Today’s result will be motivation for Liverpool supporters, as they maintain their undefeated start and add three points to a possible title push this year.

The Reds will be looking to build on today’s result next week as they welcome high-flying, West Ham, to Anfield in a clash that could prove very tough for Klopp’s men.

David Moyes’ side have started the campaign superbly, picking up wins against Chelsea, Brighton and Luton.
