Liverpool have been plagued by injuries across the pitch this season and ahead of the Reds’ FA Cup clash against Southampton we have the latest injury updates and team news.
Liverpool’s Injury Struggles Continue
Jurgen Klopp yet again has a whole host of players unavailable for selection this week with Liverpool’s injury concerns only getting worse as the season goes on.
Ryan Gravenberch is the latest Red to pick up an injury, after the Dutch midfielder was forced off in the Carabao Cup final last weekend with a worrying looking knock.
Gravenberch was stretchered off the field midway through the first half causing a lengthy delay to the final, with Joe Gomez coming off the bench in replacement.
Although Liverpool’s Dutch midfielder is set to miss the FA Cup clash against Southampton this week, there are three stars who could make their return midweek.
Darwin Nunez was pictured galloping onto the field after Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win over Chelsea last week with many questioning if the Uruguayan could have actually played in the final.
Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were sat alongside Nunez on the bench last week and both still looked sore as they hobbled on to celebrate the win.
Salah, Nunez and Szoboszlai are all considered to be day to day absentees at the moment and all three could push for a return against Southampton on Wednesday night.
Long Term Absentees
Some of Liverpool’s star players have more serious knocks and are likely to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Diogo Jota may not play another game for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, with the Portuguese forward suffering from a serious knee injury.
Arguably the Premier League’s best goalkeeper is also missing for the Reds with Alisson Becker out until at least the international break in March.
Joel Matip suffered an ACL injury in early December and there is currently no timeline on his return with the defender undergoing an operation at the beginning of the year.
